JORDAN RIVER COMMISSION

Trail Cleanups

One of the challenges the Jordan River faces is unsightly litter and trash contributed by trail users or blown and washed in by storms. Without regular efforts to clean up trash, it gets blown into the river where it is difficult to remove.

Want to help make a difference? Trail cleanup is a great team activity to get out and enjoy time outside while contributing to the environment, wildlife, and our community.

The Jordan River Commission can supply tools, trash grabbers, gloves,
trash bags, and water bottle refills as well as trash hauling or arrangements for pick up.

Jordan River Trail – Chevron Mile

When you volunteer to clean up the Jordan River & Parkway Trail

DO:

  • Enjoy the trail and take time to notice wildlife and nature
  • Wear gloves and closed toe shoes
  • Stay away from steep banks or trail hazards
  • Drink plenty of water

DON’T:

  • Pick up any “sharps” or syringes without a proper container. A
suitable sharps container can be a sturdy plastic or glass bottle with a lid that you can’t collapse. A Gatorade type bottle is good but not
    a flimsy water bottle.
  • Disturb piles of personal belongings or enter areas where people may be camping.
